Home Energy Assessment (HEA) Rebate Program

The Home Energy Assessment (HEA) program is offered by Efficiency Nova Scotia and is one of the most popular insulation and heat pump rebates in Nova Scotia. Homeowners can receive up to $5,000 towards their efficient home energy upgrades such as heat pumps, insulation, and more. Please note that upgrading from an old heat pump system does not qualify you for HEA rebates.

What is a Home Energy Assessment?

The HEA program requires a Home Energy Assessment, sometimes referred to as an Energy Audit, that will evaluate your home’s energy systems and construction. An Energy Advisor will assess the insulation in your walls and attic, to your hot water heater, to the efficiency of your current heating system. Your Energy Advisor will then provide you with a Renovation Upgrade Report (RUR) which outlines the upgrades that will best improve the energy efficiency of your home. Completing upgrades that are recommended to you by your Energy Advisor will qualify you for available rebate incentives.

Once you complete your chosen upgrades, you will need a follow-up Home Energy Assessment and a new RUR. The report from the follow-up assessment will show how much your home has improved in energy efficiency and makes you eligible for current rebate incentives.
